Richard Mitten founded California Retrofit over 30 years ago with the simple goal of providing efficient and cost effective lighting services to commercial business around Southern California. Today, a new generation of the Mitten family continues to run CRI out of the same small office in Anaheim, with a staff that has been with us for decades.
We pride ourselves on customer service, and over the years have formed lasting partnerships with many satisfied customers—Stater Brothers markets, Bristol Farms, Boeing, South Coast Plaza, CBRE, Southern California Edison and many more have relied on us for their lighting needs for decades.
Our years of industry experience and track record of successfully completing thousands of retrofit projects make us the leader in lighting retrofit implementations. Our retrofits are found in universities, retail stores, industrial buildings, athletic fields, schools, churches, outdoor settings, and in numerous other locations.

Meet Our Team
Jacalyn Mitten
President
Our ship’s faithful captain, Jaci has been with CRI since its inception in 1984. As President she oversees all departments, ensuring the alignment of our strategies, roadmap and processes. In her free time, Jaci enjoys horses, fishing and a nice glass of red.
Lindsey Mitten-Michas
Vice President
With nearly a decade of experience bringing energy efficient lighting solutions to the commercial sector in a sales capacity, Lindsey now oversees all revenue related activities for CRI. In 2021, she spearheaded development of the San Diego KEEP program, which provides no cost and low cost efficiency upgrades for public K-12 schools in the SDG&E service territory. When not talking someone’s ear off about the benefits of LED lighting, you can find her gardening or yelling at her two daughters.
Ilem Williams
KEEP Concierge
Ilem has been with CRI for 11 years, and is our most seasoned utility program customer representative. She began her career as an auditor for the Southern California Edison Non-Residential Direct Install program, helping small businesses implement efficiency measures to reduce California’s grid demand. As of 2021, she is the face of the San Diego KEEP program, helping schools in the SDG&E territory move toward ZNE. In her free time, Ilem enjoys watching football, reading and trying new recipes.
Mario Campos
General Manager
Mario works across all functional departments of CRI, ensuring day to day operations run smoothly. Trust us when we say it’s quite the undertaking. When he is able to find free time, Mario likes to garden, play board games and hang out with his family.
Ryan Michas
Senior Sales Representative
Ryan serves as Senior Sales Representative for CRI, working with customers to bring full scale lighting retrofits to realization. With technical lighting knowledge across various implementations, Ryan is passionate about bringing cost effective solutions to our customers. In his free time, Ryan enjoys golf and yelling at his wife for yelling at their daughters.
Steven Michas
Senior Sales Representative
With over 15 years’ experience in technical sales, Steve recently joined the family team, partnering with his brother Ryan to build out our outside sales department. When not daydreaming about LEDs, Steve can be found playing beach volleyball and spending time with his daughter.
